Just Say YES

Alisha Meyer

Since Zack and I have moved to Durham, we have been offered many new opportunities. With every one, comes the decision of "if" we should do it or not. I feel as if the word "IF" is a way for people to talk themselves out of the opportunity they are in front of. "IF" is really saying "well, I really don't believe in myself, or "I really don't trust this..."  So instead of responding to these opportunities with "well, I don't know IF we can afford it," or "I'll have to see IF we are available," we chose to say "that sounds like fun, let's do it!"

Because we have chosen to make the very most of these traveling adventures, we have grown in our relationship, feel at peace with our decision to do this, met a ton of new friends, and are growing as individuals each day. There really isn't anything holding us back, but ourselves in the long run. We have chosen to live a very simple life, by not spending our money on silly things we used to, eating out way less, and we don't buy new clothes or things we truly don't need (and yes, I'm okay with that). Because of that change, we are able to explore the life God made, and learn and grow as His children.

Therefore, saying YES to opportunities only strengthens our appreciation for each other, God and His creation, and ourselves. Make it a goal to say YES more to things, and less of "IF". God bless!
